SELF-CARE IN HARD TIMES, KATIE COURIC & SHELLY IBACH
“We all spend so much time and energy thinking about our future and believing we have sight-line to it. The reality is we really don’t. We have the day we’re in. One of my life lessons, has been to stay present. Live your life for the day you are in. I lost my husband a year ago, and it was important for me to understand the grief journey is about moving forward and finding graces. When I embraced this it helped me stay centered. The most important thing I’ve done is focus on the fundamentals of living. Which is sleep. I stopped using an alarm clock because I knew how important sleep is to recovery. You need to heal and sleep is at center of that. A few months later I added exercise and became disciplined in that area. Then adding healthy food. I choose life and I seek joy every day. And, I always find it. Those are my healing lessons this past year through my own grief-journey,” shares Shelly Ibach, Sleep Number President & CEO.
